MoJ publishes reports made under Rule 43 of the Coroners Rules

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) yesterday, published its second summary of recommendations made by coroners between 1 April to 30 September 2009, to organisations following a death in order to prevent similar deaths in the future. The report identifies trends and highlights any recommendations which have potential wider implications for other organisations or government departments. These reports aim to improve public health and safety by identifying action that the coroner considers should be taken to prevent future deaths. An amendment to the Coroners Rules in July 2008 introduced a new statutory duty for organisations to respond to these reports and coroners may now share their reports more widely.
