Indeterminate Sentence Prisoners

Anecdotal evidence suggests that indeterminate public protection (IPP) prisoners are more vulnerable than others in a variety of ways, particularly to self-harm and self-inflicted deaths.

As a first stage the Panel will be approaching analysts for data on deaths of life- and indeterminate-sentence prisoners, with breakdowns by age, point of sentence, gender and ethnicity with the aim of producing recommendations for effective risk management of this group. Information will be uploaded as it becomes available here.
