Prisoners with social care needs (incl. older prisoners)
There is an inflated risk of self-inflicted deaths among prisoners as they get older. The Panel are concerned that they are generally an “at-risk” group with high numbers dying from natural causes as well as self-inflicted injuries.
The Panel will be obtaining data about the rate of both self-inflicted and natural cause deaths before considering the future of this workstream. Information will be uploaded here as it becomes available.
