Letter from Rt Hon Dame Diana Johnson DBE MP, Minister for Crime, Policing and Fire, in response to a letter from Lynn Emslie, Chair of the Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody, about the consistently high number of apparent suicides following police custody, timely care and support for people experiencing a mental health crisis, and diversion away from the criminal justice system.
