Dr Jake Hard reappointed to IAPDC

The Deputy Prime Minister, in his capacity as Secretary of State for Justice, has reappointed Dr Jake Hard as a member of the IAPDC for three years from May 2026.
Dr Jake Hard is a serving member of the IAPDC, having begun his first term in 2023. Jake is a GP with over 19 years’ experience of working in prison and is the Associate Clinical Director for the South West Prisons, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. He was also the Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners Secure Environments Group from 2016 to 2022.
Wendy Sinclair-Gieben, IAPDC Chair, has warmly welcomed the news of Dr Jake Hard’s reappointment.
Speaking about his appointment, Dr Jake Hard: “I am pleased to continue my role on the IAPDC and supporting the Panel’s critical work to prevent deaths in detention, strengthening the evidence base and ensuring our advice informs policy and leads to improved outcomes in this challenging area.”
