HMIP publish their Annual Report for 2008/09

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons (HMIP) today published its annual report for 2008/09. HMIPs purpose is to ensure their is a rigorous and independent of inspection of those individuals who in prison, young offender institutions and immigration detention facilities.

The Ministry of Justice today published its Safer in Custody Statistics Bulletin for 2008/09 which provides an analysis on deaths, self harm and violence in prison.
